A Pattern Shunning Scrutiny
This refusal aligns with a pattern of sidestepping uncomfortable facts. It recalls an episode in which virtually every Democratic officeholder in Washington supported a sitting president's decision for running for re-election right up until a catastrophic public debate performance forced a reversal.
